Peyton Burditt to Benjamin M. Wible - 5 Mt. Washington Lots

On 10 Aug 1840, Peyton Burditt sold five Mt. Washington lots to Benjamin M. Wible (also spelled Wyble) as shown below. Then on 8 Oct 1842, Wible sold the five lots to Martin G. Holmes.

This indenture made and entered into this tenth day of August 1840 by and between Peyton Burditt and Ann his wife of the town of Mt. Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky of the one part and Benjamin M. Wyble [Wible] of the town and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Burditt and Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $1000 good and lawful money of the United States to them in hand paid by the said Wyble, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have this day granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said B. M. Wyble five lots of ground situate lying on south back street in the town of Mt. Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky containing one-half acre more or less each lot and numbered on the plat of said town 9, 13, 17, 21 & 25 together with all and singular the houses, fencing and all other appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Wyble and his heirs and his and their only proper use and benefit and behoof forever.

And the said Burditt and wife doth here covenant and agree to and with the said Wible that the lots No. 9, 13, 17, 21 and 25 as aforesaid with the appurtenances thereunto belonging they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the title thereof unto the said Wyble, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the claim of them the said Burditt and wife, their heirs, and from the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same.

In testimony whereof the said Burditt and Ann his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year aforesaid. (signed by grantors)
