Henry F. Kalfus bought William Wilson's share of Lot 28 in 1853, and then Henry Turner Wilson's share in 1855. Then Henry F. Kalfus and Elizabeth his wife sold their title to lot 28 to Matilda Kalfus in September 1855.
On 25 Feb 1870, Matilda Kalfus sold the lot to Matilda A. Birkhead. Matilda Birkhead was the wife of Dr. Joseph F. Birkhead, and they were the parents of Elizabeth Virginia Birkhead who married Henry Frederick Kalfus Jr., son of Henry and Matilda Kalfus.
On 1 Sep 1879, Dr. Birkhead made a deal with D. M. Bates in which they swapped land with some cash consideration included. In the arrangement, Birkhead received 5 acres, and Bates received the deed to lot 28. More than a decade later, Bates sold the lot to Charles Carroll, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 18th of June 1890 by and between D. M. Bates and Nannie W. Bates, his wife, of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the first part and Charles Carroll of the same county and state of the second part.
Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $1000 paid and to be paid them by the second party as follows: $500 in cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and for the remaining $500 the second party has executed to D. M. Bates his two promissory notes of this date for $250 each, due respectively in six and twelve months from this date with interest from date until paid. And to secure the payment of same a lien is retained on the land hereinafter conveyed; hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey to the second party the following described property in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, viz. A certain lot and parcel of ground and the houses being on corner lot fronting on Second and Walnut Streets and east of Dr S. A. McKay's lot and adjoining same as purchased of Dr. Birkhead, and extending to the alley on the north side, and known on the plat of said town of Shepherdsville as number 28 with all the improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging.
To have and to hold same unto the parties of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty. In testimony, whereof the first parties have hereto signed their names this day and date above written.
