David Leitch sold 156 acres of land on the waters of Broad Run to Thomas Anderson on 1 Apr 1794 while it was still a part of Jefferson County. Later, Anderson's heirs sold the land to Thomas Russell Sr. as shown below. Then in 1840, Thomas Russell Sr. sold 6.5 acres of his land to his son Thomas Jr. and his son-in-law William C. Short where they were operating a grocery store.

This indenture made this 31 January 1809 between Thomas Anderson and Rachael his wife, Josiah Carrico and Caty his wife, and Margaret Anderson, all of Knox County, Indiana Territory of the one part and Thomas Russell of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Thomas Anderson and Rachael his wife, Josiah Carrico and Caty his wife, and Margaret Anderson for and in consideration of the sum of 160 pounds current money of Kentucky to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Russell at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, have given, granted, bargained and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Russell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being on the waters of Broad Run and county of Bullitt aforesaid containing by survey 156 acres and bounded as followeth, to-wit.
Beginning at a white oak and two beeches, northwest corner of Daniel Spark's survey, thence North 10° East 165 poles to a dogwood, ash and beech in a line of the original survey, thence South 60° East 221 poles with said line to 2 dogwoods and a gum northwest corner Fisher's survey, thence South 30° West 94 poles with said line to a dogwood, sugar tree and beech corner to the aforesaid Sparks', thence North 80° West 175 poles with said Sparks' line to the beginning, together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining.
To have and to hold the said 156 acres of land together with all and singular the premises to the same belonging unto him the said Thomas Russell, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever. And the said Thomas Anderson, and Rachel his wife, Josiah Carrico, and Caty his wife and Margaret Anderson doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend the said tract of land against them and their heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever unto his the said Thomas Russell his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever.
In witness whereof we the aforesaid Thomas Anderson and Rachael his wife, Josiah Carrico and Caty his wife, and Margaret Anderson have hereunto put their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. (signed by grantors)
