The School Newspaper

The first of February, 1936, marked the first edition of a school paper which was printed on a hectograph by two Freshmen, Billy Samuels and Burlyn Pike. The enterprise was started as a class paper. but by the end of the third edition, it grew into a school paper with a news staff and faculty sponsor. Under the leadership of Mr. Newton, the faculty sponsor, the paper proved to be a success and a very worthy extra-curricular activity.

At the beginning of this school year a news staff was selected from students interested in newspaper work, and Mr. Shultz took over the responsibility of faculty sponsor. During the year six editions were published. The paper consists of news about the school, and it serves as a means of motivating composition work. It helps to create a better school morale by giving the public the facts about the school. The paper this year has been published on a memograph machine.
