Matthew Wilson to Simcoe, Trustee for Henrietta Oldham
Part of Shepherdsville Lot 28

On 30 Aug 1827, George F. Pope, as commissioner, deeded Shepherdsville town lot 27 and part of lot 28 to Matthew Wilson. Wilson sold the part of Lot 28 and the brick house on it to Richard Simcoe as trustee for Henrietta Oldham, daughter of Dr. H. Oldham, as shown below.

Henrietta Wilson, born 22 Apr 1828, daughter of Henry and Eliza Oldham, died of consumption on 17 Oct 1852. She was buried in the Old City Cemetery in Shepherdsville.

She had married the lawyer William Wilson on 27 May 1847, and they had two children, Henry Turner Wilson, born 7 Apr 1848, and Mary who was born 17 Jul 1850, but died 13 Jan 1853, and is buried alongside her mother.

After her death the brick house and part of the rest of lot 28 was deeded to her husband and son.


Bullitt County Deed Book H, Pages 368-369

This indenture made this 21st day of November 1836 between Matthew Wilson and Martha F. Wilson his wife of the city of Louisville, county of Jefferson and state of Kentucky of the one part and Richard B. Simcoe in trust for Henrietta Oldham of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the second part.

Witnesseth that the said Matthew Wilson, for and in consideration of the sum of $250 current money of the United States to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Richard B. Simcoe in trust for Henrietta Oldham the following lot and house thereon in Shepherdsville, being part of Lot No. 28 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville, the same called the bank house, now occupied by Doctor H. Oldham as a shop, and contains the ground only on which the said shop house stands, being the same conveyed to said Wilson by George F. Pope, commissioner for John Beckwith's heirs, see commissioner's deed to Wilson in Circuit Court Deed Book A, Page 105, deed dated the 13th day of August 1827.

To have and to hold said part of said Lot No. 28 as aforesaid to him said Richard B. Simcoe in trust for said Henrietta Oldham forever. And the said Matthew Wilson does hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Simcoe trustee to warrant and defend the title to said lot or part of lot aforesaid to him as trustee against the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever; and it is agreed that said trustee may at any time he may think it advantageous or beneficial to the said Henrietta sell and convey said pat of said lot aforesaid, and revert the amount thereof in other property for said Henrietta Oldham Oldham.

And there is due said Matthew Wilson the sum of $85.52 payable on the 1st day of January 1837 by Henry Oldham Said trustee hereby agrees to allow the said Wilson to retain a lien on said lot of ground here conveyed for the payment of the said sum due as aforesaid. Witness the hands and seals of the grantors the date first herein written.
