Wilhite Carpenter to F. P. Straus - Eastern Half of Old Clerk's Office and Lot

On 28 May 1881, the County Government sold the old county and circuit court clerks' office and lot to Wilhite Carpenter. It was located on lot 25 at the intersection of Main and Second Streets. Carpenter first sold the western half of the building and lot to F. P. Straus on 30 Aug 1881. He later sold the remainder to Straus on 27 Nov 1883, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into the 27th day of November 1883 by and between W. Carpenter and Letitia Carpenter, his wife of the first part and F. P. Straus party of the second part, all of county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky.

Witnesseth, for and in consideration of the sum of $250 cash in hand paid the said W. Carpenter and Letitia his wife do hereby sell, transfer and convey unto the said F. P. Straus, his heirs and assigns forever the following described real estate situated in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, viz. the eastern end of the old county and circuit court clerks' offices and the lot on which said eastern end stands, it being the remaining part of the property conveyed to the first party by the Bullitt County Court on the 20th May 1881, see deed recorded in Bullitt County Court Clerk's office in Deed Book X, page 169-170. Said property is situated on Main and Second Street north of the courthouse.
