Benjamin Summers to Mary Welsh - Part of Shepherdsville Lot 41

Benjamin Summers bought this lot in 1797, and according to the deed below he sold it to James Ferry by bond, which bond was transferred to Mary Welsh; and by this deed Summers deeded the ground to Welsh on 28 Apr 1818.

This indenture made and entered into this 28th day of April 1818 between Benjamin Summers of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Mary Welsh of the same county and state of the other part.

Whereas on the 17th day of March 1797 the said Summers sold to James Ferry for the consideration of 130 pounds, and gave his bond for the conveyance of all that part of lot number 13 in the old plan of Shepherdsville, and number 41 in the new plan of said town which is included in the following bounds, to-wit.

Beginning at the corner of the house now occupied by said Mary Welsh next to the courthouse, running thence with the houses thereon built the course of the town lots back to number 14 in the old plan of said town, thence with said lot number 14 in the old plan to the corner thereof on a course S 6 1/2° W, thence N 83 1/2° W the course of the lots to the corner of the smith's shop now occupied by Lewis Litture, thence with Main Street N 6 1/2° E to the beginning which said bond by assignment has become the property of said Mary Welsh.

Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Benjamin Summers for and in consideration of the premises aforesaid hath bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Mary Welsh and her heirs forever all that part of said lot number 13 in the old plan and 41 in the new plan of Shepherdsville before described, together with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining.

To have and to hold the said premises as before described to the said Mary Welsh and her heirs to and for her and their only propere use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Benjamin Summers for himself and his heirs doth covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Mary Welsh and her heirs that the before described lot and premises of land he will and his heirs shall forever warrant and defend to her by these presents.
