On 2 Nov 1839, the children of Richard James Sr. settled ownership of his estate when three of them sold the land to the other three, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of November 1839 between Richard James and Mary James his wife, and Samuel Stallings and Ann Stallings his wife all of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky, and John James of the county of Lawrence and state of Illinois of the first part, and Thomas Stallings Jr., Susan James and Harriet James of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the second part.
Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $1500 lawful money of the United States to them the party of the first part in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold unto the party of the second part all their right, title and interest in and to a tract of land in Bullitt County and on the north side of Salt River containing 130 acres more or less, and is the same land of which Richard James Sr. dec'c died seized of and is bounded as follows, viz.
Beginning at a stone planted above a small beech tree and near a sycamore tree marked I on gthe Bank Salt River, running thence with the line of the original line N 14° E (for 15°) 122 poles 4 links to a stone marked A, thence N 70° W ( for 75°) 106 poles to a red oak, sugar tree and white oak, thence S 16° W 210 poles 4 links to a beech tree and ash tree standing on the bank of Salt River, thence up the meanders of said river to low water mark 112 poles to the place of beginning.
To have and to hold the same with all and singular with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any case appertaining ot them the said Thomas Stallings Jr., Susan & Harriet James, their heirs and assigns forever. And the said party of the first part for themselves, their heirs &c shall and will warrant and defend the claim and title of said land against the title and claim of all and every person whatever claiming or to claim either through or by them, and the claim of all other forever.
In witness whereof the said John James and Samuel Stallings together with his wife and Ann Stallings who hereby relinquishes her right of dower in and to the land hereby conveyed, and Richard and james together with his wife Mary James who hereby relinquishes her right or dower in and to the land hereby conveyed this day and date first above written.
