Elisha Simmons to Abraham Field - Shepherdsville Lots 39-40 - Part 5

On 17 Feb 1834, Matthew Wilson sold this part of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 to Elisha Simmons who later sold it to Abraham Field as shown below.

Abraham Field appears to have passed the lot to Alfred J. Field who later sold it to Thomas Joyce on 27 Feb 1866.

This indenture made this 26th day of February in the year of our Lord 1840 between Elisha W. Simmons and Sally his wife of the town of Augusta and County of Bracken and State of Kentucky of the one part, and Abraham Field of the town of Shepherdsville and County of Bullitt and State aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Elisha W. Simmons and his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and thirty dollars 12 1/2 cents current money of the United States in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Abraham Field, his heirs and assigns, a certain lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville and being numbered five on the commissioner's plat, sold by said commissioners for the benefit of the Bullitt Academy and being a part of lots No. 39 and 40, in the new plan of said town, and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning on Main Street of said town at the southeast corner of said lot No. 40, thence with the line of the alley North 83 1/2° West 198 feet, 11 inches to the southwest corner of lot No. 39 on School Alley, thence with a line of said alley North 6 1/2° East 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 198 feet, 11 inches to a stake on Main Street, thence with a line of said street 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to the beginning with its appurtenances unto the said Abraham Field, his heirs &c forever.

And the said Elisha W. Simmons and Sally his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns covenant and agree to and with the said Abraham Field that they will warrant and defend the said lot of ground and appurtenances unto the said Abraham Field, his heirs &c forever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said Elisha W. Simmons and Sally his wife hereto set their hands and seals the day and date before written. [signed by grantors]
