Alfred J. Field Trustees to Thomas Joyce - Shepherdsville Lots 39-40 - Part 5

On 20 November 1865, this deed from Richard H. Field and James M. Shanklin, trustees for Alfred J. Field, to Thomas Joyce was recorded in Bullitt County. It was for the part of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 that had been purchased by Abraham Field from Elisha W. Simmons.

Thomas Joyce would later sell it to R. J. Meyler on 28 Jun 1877.

Whereas on the __ day of __ 185_, Alfred J. Field by deed of assignment of record in the office of the Jefferson County Court conveyed to R. H. Field and James M. Shanklin as trustees certain real and personal estate, and among the rest a house and lot in Shepherdsville herein after described, and whereas said Field and Shanklin as authorized by said deed sold said house and lot at public sale in said town of Shepherdsville and Thomas Joyce became the purchaser for the sum of $100 and paid for the same.

Now this indenture entered into this __ day of October 1865 between the said Field and Shanklin of the first part and the said Joyce of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the payment to them of the aforesaid sum of $100, they the parties of the first part have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey to the party of the second part, his heirs &c, a certain lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville, being part of lots Nos. 39 & 40 in the new plan of said town, and bounded as follows.

Beginning on Main Street at the southeast corner of said lot No. 40, thence with the line of the alley, North 83 1/2° West 198 feet, 11 inches to the southwest corner of lot No. 39 on School Alley. Thence with a line of said alley North 6 1/2° East 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 198 feet, 11 inches to a stake on Main Street. Thence with a line of said street 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to the beginning.

To have and to hold said lot with the improvements unto the said Joyce, his heirs as fully as the said parties are authorized to do by the deed first above referred to, but without incurring individual responsibility for title, warranting only against the claim of the said A. J. Field, his heirs &c.
