Daniel Wilson to John Scott Jr. - Part of Shepherdsville Lot #22

In 1798, Daniel Wilson sold about half of Shepherdsville lot #22 (new plan) to John Scott Jr., as shown just below. Then in 1806, he sold the remainder of the lot to Scott, as shown further down this page. Scott would sell the lot to James Halbert in 1816.


Bullitt County Deed Book A2, Page 70

This indenture made this 8th day of October 1798 between Daniel Willson of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part, and John Scott Jr. of the same county and state.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of 25 pounds, currency of Kentucky, to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given granted, bargained and sold, and by thesee presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and make over a certain part of a lot in Shepherdsville, 96 feet of lot No. 23, and the said Daniel doth warrant and forever defend said part of lot, it being the part that said Willson sold to Joseph Croxton and by covenant conveys to John Scott Jr. Said Daniel doth warrant and defend said ground with its appurtenances from himself, his heirs and any person claimin by, from or under him, and from any other person holding any claim whatsoever.

Bullitt County Deed Book B, Pages 87-88

This indenture made this tenth day of September in the year of our Lord 1806 between Daniel Wilson of the County of Bullitt and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part, and John Scott Jr. of the County and Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Daniel Wilson for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar current money of the United States of America to him in hand paid by the said John Scott Jr. before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said John Scott Jr., his heirs and assigns forever, the eastern half of lot No. 23 divided by a parallel line in the town of Shepherdsville and which lot No. 23 in the plan of said town is bounded southwardly by Second Street, eastwardly by an alley running between Main Street and Plumb Street with its appurtenances.

To have and to hold the said half of lot No. 23 unto the said John Scott Jr., his heirs and assigns, to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Daniel Wilson for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators doth further covenant and agree to and with the said John Scott Jr., his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, that he will warrant and defend the said half of lot No. 23 with its appurtenances unto the said John Scott Jr., his heirs and assigns forever agains himself, his heirs &c adn against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever.
