In 1852, the Shepherdsville Iron Manufacturing Company contracted to sell the Forge Tract near Shepherdsville to Wilhite Carpenter. They completed the transaction with his final mortgage payment in April 1864 as shown in the deed transcription below.

Know all man that the Shepherdsville Iron Manufacturing Company by its president Joshua F. Bullitt hereby sells and conveys with general warranty of title to Wilhite Carpenter in fee simple a tract of land in Bullitt County, Kentucky beginning at the southeast corner of the tract known as the Forge tract near Shepherdsville on the south side of Salt River. Thence with the line of said tract, cross Salt River. Thence with line of said tract down the river to the southeast corner of what was the enclosure of said tract on the 16 of February 1852. Thence westwardly with the fence then on said land to the corner where the same turned at a right angle toward Salt River below the stable in the forge tract. Thence southwardly at right angles to a point on the north bank of Salt River which is seven feet perpendicular height above low water mark. Thence with the meanders of Salt River at the same height above low water mark to the western boundary of said Forge tract. Thence southwestwardly with said western boundary across Salt River to the northern boundary of said tract. Thence with the northern line of said tract to the beginning. But said company retains the right of way to Salt River from that part of the tract not hereby conveyed, for its assigns and over the part of the tract not hereby sold, which lies north of Salt River. Said company's assigns shall forever have full right of way, for and in consideration of which the said Carpenter has executed to said Company his four notes for $250 each, bearing interest from the 16 February 1852 for the payment of which a lien is hereby retained, except one note which has been paid. State of Kentucky, Bullitt County Sct. I R. J. Meyler, clerk of the Bullitt County Court, certify that on the 7th April 1864, the foregoing deed was produced to C. R. Samuels, former clerk of said court, and acknowledged by J. F. Bullitt, party thereto, to be his act and deed, as appears from said Samuels' endorsement thereon, and the same was duly .. and ordered to be recorded, which with this certificat I have truly recorded in my office this 16th June 1866.
