On 18 Dec 1802, Edward Williams of Hardy County, Virginia (now West Virginia) sold 862.5 acres lying in Bullitt County to George Reed, a resident of Bourbon County, Kentucky. Thomas Bullitt, a Louisville merchant, acted as Williams' attorney in fact to handle the transaction.
According to the deed, this land was the northern part of Williams' settlement and preemption, which contained a total of 1400 acres, and is shown here and described on another page.
Of this, Reed sold 30 acres to Evans Moore as shown below.

This indenture made and concluded this 17th day of October 1804 between George Reed of Bourbon County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Evans Moore of the county of Bullitt and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said George Reed and Margaret Reed his wife for and in consideration of the sum of 39 pounds to him in hand paid by the said Evans Moore, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Evans Moore, his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing 30 acres situated lying and being in the county of Bullitt and state aforesaid, and bounded as followeth.
Beginning at an ash and hickory standing at the junction of Reed's line and Moore's line, thence with said Reed's line South 4° West 61 poles to a walnut, thence South 71° East 72 poles to an elm and walnut, thence North 19° East 60 poles to a dogwood and elm, thence North 71° West 88 poles to the beginning.
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said Evans Moore, his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said George Reed and Margaret Reed his wife and their heirs to and with the said Evans Moore and his heirs and assigns doth covenant and agree that they will warrant and forever defend the said tract of land with its appurtenances unto the said Evans Moore, his heirs and assigns against them and their heirs and against all and every persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same.
In witness whereof the said George Reed and Margaret Reed hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this day and date above written.
