William Ray to Henry Hart - 150 Acres

On 10 Jun 1814, William Ray sold to Henry Hart 150 acres of a 400 acre tract patented to John Ray that lay along Crooked Creek. This section lay in the southeast corner of the original patent. Note that some the original degree readings are altered in this deed.

This indenture may this 10th day of June in the year of our Lord, 1814 between William Ray and Polly his wife of the county of Washington, and state of Kentucky of the one part, and Henry Hart of Bullitt County, and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William and Polly for and in consideration of the sum of 145 pounds current money of said state to them in hand paid by the said Henry, the receipt whereof they hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, and convey unto the said Henry, 150 acres of land in the said county of Bullitt on the waters of Crooked Creek, and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at three white oaks, northeastwardly corner of John Ray's 400 acre survey and running with the line thereof North 8° West (called in the patent 11°) 190 poles to a gum, beech and poplar corner to Royal Glass's land, thence with his line South 79° West 127 poles to a gum and three poplars passing Glass' corner at 119 poles, thence South 8° East 188 poles to a Spanish oak, chestnut oak and white oak in the line of John Ray's survey of 400 acres, thence with his line North 82° East (called N 79° E) 127 poles to the beginning, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereto belonging.

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of 150 acres of land as is described together with all the advantages and improvements thereto belonging unto the said Henry Hart, his heirs, executors &c forever to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof. The said William Ray and Polly his wife for themselves and their heirs do covenant, promise and agree to and with the said Henry Hart, his heirs &c that the before described tract of land with its appurtenances they will forever warrant and defend against the claim of themselves and their heirs and all and every person whatsoever.
