Bullitt County Deed Book G, Pages 91-92

This indenture made this 10th day of April 1829 between William Pope of the County of Jefferson and State of Kentucky of the one part and Francis Maraman of Bullitt County and same state of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Pope for and in consideration of the sum of $920 current money of the United States to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Francis Maraman, his heirs, executors and administrators, a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in said County of Bullitt on the south side of Salt River, part of James Honey's 970 acre survey, and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at a beech near the head of the gut at which the road from Shepherdsville to Long Lick and to Crist's Mill forks, being a corner to the land heretofore sold and conveyed to said Maraman, thence South 84° West 12 poles to the main road, thence with the road on towards Long Lick South 41° East 74 poles, South 11° East 100 poles, South 3° West 66 poles to Henry Jones' corner at the Rocky Branch, thence East 60 poles to a stake in Honey's eastern boundary line and with said line North 11° East 377 poles to the upper corner on the river, being a walnut and hickory, thence down the river at low water mark and binding thereon to the mouth of the gut above said Maraman's to the upper corner of the land purchased by said Maraman heretofore of said Pope, thence up said gut with the lines thereof to the beginning, containing 230 acres more or less.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and appurtenances unto the said Francis Maraman, his heirs, executors and administrators, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever, and the said William Pope for himself, his heirs &c doth covenant and agree to and with the said Francis Maraman that he will and his heirs shall warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land and appurtenances to the said Francis Maraman, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns from himself and his heirs, and from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said William Pope hereto sets his hand and seal on the day and year before written. (signed) William Pope. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of George F. Pope, William Caldwell.

State of Kentucky, Bullitt County Court Clerk's Office, 4th July 1829. This indenture was this day produced to me, the clerk of the court for said county, and proved by the oaths of George F. Pope and William Caldwell, the subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of William Pope, grantor therein, and the same is thereupon truly recorded in my office. Teste: Noah C.
