In 1838, Thomas Joyce sold his part of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 to Jesse Applegate who also agreed to pay off a mortgage on the ground held by Richard P. Simmons as described on another page. Then in 1840 Applegate sold the ground to W. W. Maraman as shown on another page. Maraman next sold it to Richard P. Simmons as shown below.
Following Simmons' death, his heirs sold the ground to one of their siblings, Nicholas Simmons.

This indenture made this 21st day of August 1841 between Wilford W. Maraman of the town of Shepherdsville, County of Bullitt, and State of Kentucky of the one part and Richard P. Simmons of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Maraman for and in consideration of the sum of $3000 current money to him that said Maraman in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he said Maraman has sold, and by these presents does sell and convey unto the said Richard P. Simmons so much of lots numbers 39 and 40 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville as was conveyed to the said Maraman by Jesse H. Applegate and wife by deed bearing date 5 August 1840 and recorded in the county court clerk's office of Bullitt in deed book I page 326 and which was conveyed to said Applegate by Thomas Joyce by deed recorded in same office dated 2nd February 1839 and being the tavern stand now occupied by Francis Maraman, references had to said deeds for a more particular description of said premises.
To have and to hold the said parts of lots numbers 39 and 40 in the town of Shepherdsville together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging are in any wise appertaining to the said Simmons and his heirs forever. And the said Wilford W. Maraman for himself, his heirs and assigns, does hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Richard P. Simmons and his heirs and assigns that he the said Maraman will and his heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and forever defend the title to said parts of lots and appurtenances here sold unto him the said Richard P. Simmons and to his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of him the said Maraman and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same, by this his deed in fee simple with general warranty. In testimony whereof the said Wilford W. Maraman has hereunto set his hand and seal on the day and year first above written. (signed by W. W. Maraman)
