Francis Maraman Jr. to James Moore - 112.5 acres

In 1856 Francis Maraman Jr. sold 112.5 acres to James Moore. This land lay south of Salt River and adjoined an earlier purchase as well as a tract belonging to Wilhite Carpenter.

This indenture made this 29th day of April 1856 between Francis Maraman and Martha his wife of the first part, and James Moore of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars in hand paid and secured to be paid by note, have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said James Moore the following tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the county of Bullitt on the waters of Salt River and bounded as follows, to wit:

Beginning at a stake, it being S 65°30' W 6 links from a swamp red oak, corner to W. Carpenter's 35 1/2 acres formerly bought of Maraman, thence with said Carpenter's line S 70°30' E 36 4/5 poles to two hickorys, corner to Carpenter, thence S 85° E 62 19/25 poles to a stake in between two large red oaks, Carpenter's former corner and down it being S 11° E 37 links from the oak, now standing and on the west side of a road, thence up the road S 43°20' W 90 17/25 poles to a stake in Moore's lines, corner to Carpenter, thence with Moore's line N 77° W 4 poles to a stake, Moore's corner, it being S 14° E 15 links from a burr oak, thence S 82° W 97 poles to a forked sweet gum on the north edge of old pipe row, thence S 34° W 81 3/6 poles to three hickories growing out of one root and white oak in Bowman's line, thence with said line N 55° W 100 poles to two hickories in said line, thence N 61° E 222 poles to the beginning, crossing the road at 56 poles, and the old pipe row at 84 poles, containing 112 1/2 acres.

To have and to hold the said land above set out unto the said James Moore together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said James Moore and his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of the said Francis Maraman and Martha his wife and their heirs and assigns forever, and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming the same in any manner whatever.

State of Kentucky, Bullitt County Sct. I Robert F. Samuels, clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid, do certify that on the 23rd day of June 1856 the foregoing deed from Francis Maraman and Martha Maraman his wife to James Moore was produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said Francis and Martha Maraman to be their act and deed. Whereupon I have truly recorded the same and this certificate in my said office this 10th day of July 1856. Att. R. F. Samuels, clerk.
