In 1855, Francis Maraman Jr. sold 80.5 acres of land south of Salt River to James Moore. This land adjoined a tract belonging to Wilhite Carpenter. The deed is transcribed below.

This indenture made this 21st day of April 1855 between Francis Maraman and Martha Maraman, his wife, of the first part and James Moore of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky. Witness that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $380.50, cash in hand paid, they the party of the first part hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents, grant, bargain and sell unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, the following tract of land lying in Bullitt County on the south side of Salt River, being the same land on which William McLaue lately lived, and bounded as follows.
Beginning at a stake near a white oak and black oak in Bowman's line (1) thence N 36° E 108 3/10 poles to a stake in a meadow, corner to the lands of Charles Maraman's heirs at (2), thence with their line N 71° E 38 poles to an ash and sweet gum, another corner of said land at (3), thence with another of their lines N 55 2/3° E 23 poles to a sweet gum and swamp oak, corner to Willhite Carpenter's land, formerly G. W. Maraman's land at (4), thence with said Carpenter's line N 25° E 10 poles 8 links to a stake near the corner of a meadow at (5), thence still with Carpenter's line N 76 2/3° W 54 poles along a fence t oa stake, being 62 West 15 links from a burr oak at (6), thence S 82° W 97 poles a stake 3 feet south of a forked sweet gum on the north side of an old pipe row (at 7), thence S 34° W 81 1/2 poles to three hickories and an ash and white oak in said Bowman's line at (8), thence wit hhis line S 55 3/4° E 95 poles to the place of beginning, containing eighty and one half acres, 70 acres of which was heretofore sold by the said Maraman to James Shepherd as per bond of 11th May 1847 and assigned by Shepherd to William McLaue and by said McLaue to said James Moore, and ten and one half acres this day sold by said Maraman to said Moore at $8 per acre. The land sold by Maraman to Shepherd was at the price of $4.25 per acre, all of which is paid.
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land containing eighty and one half acres, more or less, unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, against the claim of the party of the first part and their heirs, and all persons claiming the same, this deed being intended to convey the fee simple title with general warranty. In witness whereof the party of the first part hath hereto set their hands this day and year first written. (signed) F. Maraman, M. Maraman.
State of Kentucky, Bullitt County Sct. I Robert F. Samuels, clerk of the county court for said county, do certify that on the 22nd day of April 1855 this deed from F. Maraman and Martha Maraman his wife to James Moore was produced to me in my county and acknowledged by the said Francis Maraman and Martha his wife to be their act and deed, and the same was ordered to be recorded, which is truly done in my office this 31st day of May 1855.
