Following the deaths of Robert F. Samuels and his son Charles R. Samuels, the heirs were required by a circuit court suit to sell parts of four Shepherdsville Lots (13, 14, 15, 29) and also a nearby 18 plus acres at auction to John D. Bryan.
On 1 Nov 1870, Bryan sold the parts of 4 Shepherdsville lots to Wilhite Carpenter, as shown below.

This deed of conveyance made and entered into this November 1st 1870 by and between J. D. Bryan of the first part and Wilhite Carpenter of the second part, all of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky.
Witnesseth that the party of the first part, for and in consideration of $50 in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, does hereby sell, grant and convey to the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns the following described real property, viz.: one half of lots No. 13, 14, 15 and 29, said lots being and lying in the town of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and the same conveyed to R. F. Samuels by Noah C. Summers by deed recorded in Deed Book M, page 88, and the same conveyed to this grantor by Casper Herps as commissioner in the case of R. F. Samuels' curator against R. F. Samuels' heirs and creditors; said Commissioner's deed recorded in Deed Book R, pages 442, 443 and 444.
To have and to hold the same with all the appurtenances thereon unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever with covenant of general warranty.
