James C. Graham to Charles Maraman - A Town Lot

On 28 Nov 1818, James C. Graham sold his rights to a half acre lot adjoining Shepherdsville to Charles Maraman as shown below. This is the same lot first sold to Michael Ryan by Adam Shepherd, and then later claimed by William Mockee and deeded via Adam Shepherd to James C. Graham.

This indenture of bargain and sale made and entered into this 28th day of November in the year of our Lord 1818 between James C. Graham of the one part and Charles Maraman of the other part.

Witness that the said James C. Graham, for and in consideration of the sum of $50 to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, this day granted, bargain, sold and aliened to the said Charles Maraman and his heirs forever, a certain tract or parcel of land containing one half acre of ground adjoining the town of Shepherdsville, 80 feet from the northwest corner of lot number 29 in the old plan of said town at a stake, in a line with the east side of the middle or main street of said town; thence the course of the said street 198'11" to a stake, thence North 83 1/2° East 99'5" to a stake, thence South 6 1/2° West 198'11" to a stake, thence North 83 1/2° West running parallel with the back line of the town land 99'5" to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said half acre of land situate as aforesaid together with all the privileges and immunities thereunto belonging to the said Charles Maraman and his heirs forever; and the said James C. Graham for himself and his heirs doth warrant and forever defend the said half acre of gound to the said Charles Maraman and his heirs free from the claim of the said James C. Graham and all persons claiming by, through or under him, but from no other person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said James C. Graham hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year before written.
