William Graham to John W. Beckwith & William F. Smith - Shepherdsville Lot 52

Shepherdsville lot 52 (new plan) was first sold to William Graham on 1 Apr 1814, a lot he apparently already lived on. A month later he sold it to John W. Beckwith and William F. Smith as shown below. Then in September Smith deeded his share to Beckwith.

This indenture made and entered into this third day of May in the year of our Lord 1814 between William Graham of the county of Shelby and state of Kentucky and Nancy Graham his wife of the one part and John W. Beckwith and William F. Smith of the county of Bullitt and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witness that the said William Graham and Nancy his wife, for, and in consideration of the sum of $300 to them this day paid by said Beckwith and Smith, the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, and sold, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said John W. Beckwith and William F. Smith the following lot of ground, to-wit.

The light on which said Graham formerly lived in the town of Shepherdsville, known in the old plan by the No. 6, and in the present plan by the No. 52, and bounded southwardly by Water Street and eastwardly by Plumb Street with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to have and to hold to the said Beckwith and Smith and their heirs forever.

And the said William Graham and Nancy his wife doth hereby covenant and agree with said Beckwith and Smith that they will forever warrant and defend said lot of ground from all claims whatsoever. In testimony whereof we have hereunto subscribed our hands and seals this day and date above written. (signed) William Graham, Nancy (her x mark) Graham.
