Paul Froman to Jacob Ambrose

Paul Froman sold his half-share of the 400 acre tract patented to him and William Pope to Jacob Ambrose on 14 Apr 1798. This deed is transcribed below followed by an image of the deed. For more information regarding this tract, see the plat drawing on another page.

This indenture made this fourteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight between Paul Froman and Mary his wife of the county of Nelson and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Jacob Ambrose of the county & Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Paul Froman and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds Kentucky currency by the said Jacob Ambrose to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Jacob Ambrose his heirs and assigns an undivided moiety or equal half part of a certain tract of land containing four hundred acres by survey bearing date the twenty fourth day of February one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and patented to Pope and Froman, situate lying and being on the south side of Salt River adjoining .. Edwards five hundred & sixty acre survey in the county of Bullitt and Commonwealth aforesaid and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a large hickory, two beeches and a small walnut, thence South twenty three degrees East five hundred and six poles to two white oaks on the east side of a hill, thence South sixty seven degrees West one hundred and thirty poles to a Spanish oak and small elm in a flat, thence North twenty three degrees West four hundred and seventy five poles to a beech and two sugartrees on the bank of Salt River, thence up the same with the several meanders thereof of one hundred & forty two poles when reduced to a straight line to the Beginning, together with all and singular the appurtenances to the said undivided moiety or equal half part of the said tract of four hundred acres of land belonging. To have and to hold the said undivided moiety of the said four hundred acre tract of land with appurtenance to the said Jacob Ambrose his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of him the said Jacob Ambrose and the said Paul Froman and Mary his wife for themselves and their heirs do hereby grant for themselves and their heirs that they the said Paul Froman and Mary his wife and their heirs the undivided moiety of equal half part of the four hundred acres of land and the appurtenances hereby granted or mentioned to be granted unto the said Jacob Ambrose his heirs and assigns against them the said Paul Froman and Mary his wife and their heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof they the said Paul Froman and Mary his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first within written. Bullitt County Sct.
Robert Anderson on the 23rd of June 1810 and Patrick McGee on the 20th of December 1810 subscribing witnesses to the within indenture personally before me at my office by their oaths moved the same to be the voluntary act and deed of Paul Froman one of a party to the same. Whereupon I have recorded the said indenture and this certificate in my said office as the law requires. January 4th 1811. (signed) Frederic W. S. Grayson, Clerk BCC.
