David Hall Deed to Simeon Hall Sr.

This deed to Simeon Hall Sr. was one of several written at the request of David Hall following his death in 1814. In his will he assigned the task to his three sons-in-law, Alexander King, Nicholas Gentry, and Richard Lovelace. It covered part of the land covered by the 1400 acre settlement and preemption granted to Thomas Johnson, assignee of James McCollock.

David Hall to Simeon Hall Sr., 9 May 1815, 102 acres

This indenture made and entered into this 9th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between Alexander King, Nicholas Gentry and Richard Lovelace, executors of David Hall deceased, and especially appointed by the said testator for the purpose of conveying certain tracts of land of the one part and Simeon Hall Senior of the other part, all of the county of Bullitt and Commonwealth of Kentucky. Witnesseth that the said Alexander King, Nicholas Gentry and Richard Lovelace, executors as aforesaid, doth by these presents relinquish all their right, title, claim and interest to and in a certain tract or parcel of land situate laying and being in the county and commonwealth aforesaid, and on the waters of Salt River, being part of James McCullucks settlement and preemption of fourteen hundred acres, and bounded as followeth (to wit), beginning at two beeches, a sycamore and sugartree corner with Simeon Harris and John Clark on their line, thence N 57 1/2 poles to a sycamore, elm and ash trees, thence N 70 W 277 poles to a dogwood and two white oaks corner with David Parris, and on his line thence S 20 W 57 poles to a sassafras, thence S 70 E 296 poles to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred and two acres be the same more or less, and the said Alexander King, Nicholas Gentry and Richard Lovelace agree for themselves, their heirs and for the legal heirs of David Hall deceased to warrant and forever defend unto the said Simeon Hall Senior, his heir and assigns forever the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging from themselves, their heirs and from the legal heirs of David Hall deceased, and from all persons claiming in through, by or under them, but not from the claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and date above written.

Bullitt County Sect. I James Halbert, clerk of the county court in and for the county aforesaid do certify that on this day the within indenture was produced to me in my office and acknowledged by Alexander King, Nicholas Gentry and Richard Lovelace, executors of David Hall deceased, parties thereto, to be their voluntary act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned, and that I have truly recorded the same together with this certificate in my said office, given unde my hand and seal this 9th day of May 1815.
