Henry Crist to Martin Bodine - 8+ Acres

On 10 Aug 1829, Henry Crist and his son Henry S. Crist sold a bit over eight acres to Martin Bodine which adjoined the tan yard lot that Crist had sold to Richard Bodine in 1827. Then in 1834, Richard Bodine sold the one acre lot to Martin Bodine. Later, Martin would sell 9 plus acres, including the tan yard lot to Frederick Fundy.

This indenture made this 10th day of August 1829 between Henry Crist and Henry S. Crist, both of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part, and Martin Bodine of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Henry Crist and Henry S. Crist, for and in consideration of the sum of $34.50 current money of Kentucky to them in hand paid by the said Martin Bodine, the receipt thereof they do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Martin Bodine, his heir and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land containing of 8 acres, 2 quarters, and 20 poles lying and being situated in Bullitt County on the waters of Cedar Creek, and adjoining of Bodine's tan yard, and bounded as follows, viz.

Beginning at a dogwood, Crenshaw's and Hickle's corner, and running thence East 12 poles to 2 dogwoods in Hedges' line, thence with the same N 40° W 68 poles to a stake at the stable corner to the tan yard tract, thence with the same S 50° W 11 poles and 22 links to a stake, another corner to the tan yard tract, thence N 40° W 14 poles to a sassafras and black oak, another corner of the tan yard tract, thence S 50° W 20 poles and 28 links to a white oak, ironwood, and black walnut saplings near a branch, thence S 33° E 18 poles to a sugar tree in Crenshaw's line, thence with the same N 70° E 14 1/2 poles to a poplar, thence S 35° E 22 poles to a sugar tree, thence S 83° E 28 poles to a honey locust, redbud and ironwood, thence S 11 poles to the beginning, be the same more or less with all its appurtenances.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all and singular the appurtenances and hereditaments thereunto belonging unto the said Martin Bodine, him and his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Henry Crist and Henry S. Crist do for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators further covenant and agree to and with the said Martin Bodine, his heirs and assigns, that they will forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land unto the said Martin Bodine, his heirs &c against them the said Henry Crist and Henry S. Crist, them, their heirs and assigns, and against the claim or claims of all person or persons whatsoever.
