Henry J. Craycroft had given a bond for "a house and other buildings on lots or parts of lots Nos. 25 & 26 in the new plan of its town of Shepherdsville" to Francis Maraman who had assigned it to Colbow and Caldwell. We located another deed (shown below) in which Craycroft deeded the tract to Colbow and Caldwell. By another deed they assigned it to Martha A. Maraman in exchange for about 76 acres of land south of Salt River.

This indenture made and entered into this 12th day of January 1855 by and between Henry J. Craycroft and Susan Mary his wife of the city of Louisville of the first part and William J. Colbow and James Caldwell of Shepherdsville of the second part.
Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $250 cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, enfeoff, convey, and confirm unto the said parties of the second part and to their heirs and assigns the storehouse and lot in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky situated on the northeast corner of the public square and adjoining the clerk's office. Said lot runs from its southwestern corner to a point halfway between said house and the sadler's shop of N. W. Gatton in front and from these two points back till they strike the office lot of R. H. Field and all the estate, right, title, claim, interest, and fee of them the said parties of the first part of in and to the same.
To have and to hold the said house and lot with the appurtenances unto the said parties of the second part and to their heirs and assigns to their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said parties of the first part covenant and agree with the said parties of the second part and with their heirs and assigns that they will, and that their heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and forever defend the house and lot with all the appurtenances unto the said parties and to their heirs and assigns against the claims of all and every person whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same.
In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereto set hands and seals on the day and date first before written.
