In April 1833, John H. Baker purchased James D. Breckinridge's share of the forge tracts near Shepherdsville. Specifically, these where the 150 and 50 acre tracts that John W. Beckwith and Frederic W. S. Grayson had purchased from Adam Shepherd, noted on another page.
Baker did not purchase the tracts outright, but rather assumed responsibility for notes to two Louisville merchants, and also mortgaged the land back to Breckinridge, as noted in the second deed below.
Then on 14 July 1837, Breckinridge released the land back to Baker, as shown below.

This indenture made this third day of April 1833 between James D. Breckinridge of Jefferson County, Kentucky of the first part and John H. Baker of Bullitt County of the second part. Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars to him in hand paid by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell to the party of the second part one undivided moiety of a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Bullitt County, Kentucky on Salt River adjoining Shepherdsville and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at two black walnuts and three mulberry saplings on the north bank of Salt River, thence North seventy nine degrees East two hundred and forty poles to a red or black oak, elm and sweet gum sapling in a flat, thence South six degrees, thirty minutes West forty nine poles to a stake, corner to the grave yard, thence with a line of the same North eighty three degrees West twenty five poles to another stake, thence South six degrees, thirty minutes West six poles to another stake, thence South eighty three and one half degrees East twenty five poles to a stake, thence South six degrees, thirty minutes West twenty six poles to a line of Adam Shepherd's six hundred acre survey on the bank of Salt River, thence down the said river and binding thereon with the several meanders thereof to the beginning containing one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less. Also an undivided moiety of another tract in said county adjoining the said one hundred and fifty acres contained principally by the bed of Salt River and bounded as follows, to wit. Beginning in the upper line of the above seized 150 acre tract at the junction of the town line of Water Street, thence with said street line as far as Walnut Street, thence with said street to the river and up the river to a large beech tree marked A.S. corner to Peter Shepherd's six hundred acre survey, thence with the line thereof South thirty six degrees West to the south side of Salt River and so far up the bank as shall be seven feet perpendicular height above low water mark, thence down said river at the distance aforesaid to a point opposite the beginning course of the aforesaid one hundred and fifty acres, thence crossing the river to the said beginning corner, thence up the river with the line of the aforesaid one hundred and fifty acres tract to the beginning, containing about fifty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold an undivided moiety of the said two tracts of land with the appurtenances to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, and the said party of the first part doth hereby warrant and defend the said moiety of the said two tracts of land against all persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same, but in case said tracts of land or either of them, or any part of either shall be lost, then the said party of the first part shall refund .. according to the amount lost but without interest or costs. This indenture made this third day of April 1833 between John H. Baker of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the first part and James D. Breckinridge of the same place of the second part. Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof he doth hereby confess, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell to the party of the second part two certain tracts or parcels of land situate lying and being in Bullitt County, Kentucky, lying on Salt River below and adjoining Shepherdsville, being the Shepherdsville mill tracts containing together about two hundred acres, one undivided moiety whereof has this day been conveyed by deed by the party of the second part to the party of the first part and this deed is intended to reconvey to the said Breckinridge the same interest which he conveyed to the said Baker. To have and to hold the said undivided moiety to the said Breckinridge, his heirs and assigns, but this deed shall be void upon condition that the following described obligations shall be punctually paid as they shall become due, viz. an order drawn by said John H. Baker on L. D. Addison of Louisville, Kentucky for $218.21 payable six months after date and dated Louisville 3rd April 1833 and accepted by said Addison; an order drawn by said Baker on Messrs Addison & Clendennen of Louisville for $176.50 payable six months after date and dated 3rd of April 1833 and accepted by said Addison & Clendennen, and three several notes of said Baker, each for $500.00 payable to said Breckinridge in one, two and three years with interest on each from the date till payment and all dated 3rd April 1833, as witness my hand and seal this day and date above written. This indenture of release from James D. Breckinridge to John H. Baker of Bullitt County, Kentucky for and in consideration of the payment of the money secured by mortgage from said Baker to said Breckinridge recorded in Bullitt County, the said Breckinridge doth hereby release the said mortgaged premises being the tract of lying below and adjoining Shepherdsville.
