Mary V. Wilson to the Presbyterian Church

In December 1858, Mary V. Wilson deeded an acre lot to the Presbyterian Church which became the home of the Hebron Presbyterian Church. Here is that deed.

Bullitt County Deed Book O, Pages 381-382

This indenture made this eight day of December 1858 between Miss Mary V. Wilson of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the first part, and James S. Beatty, Upton Wilson and James W. White and their successors in office to be appointed according to the rules adopted by the general assembly of the Old School Presbyterian Church of the United States, be the congregation worshiping in the building erected upon the lot herein conveyed, under the care of said general assembly, of the county of Bullitt of the second part.

Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the respect and attachment she has for the Old School Presbyterian Church of the United States of America, and of one dollar in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the party of the second part, and to their successors in office, certain track or parcel of land lying in the county of Bullitt aforesaid and described as follows.

Beginning at a stone on the west side of the Louisville and Shepherdsville Plank Road in the line of S. N. Brooks, thence with the line of said road, South 12° West 12 32/100 poles to a stone, thence North 88° West 13 poles to a stone, thence North 12° East 12 32/100 poles to a stone in said Brooks' line, and thence with the same South 88° East 13 poles to the beginning, containing one acre of land for the purpose of erecting thereon a church under the care of said general assembly for the use of the congregation holding and using it for that purpose and note other whatever.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said parties of the second part and to their successors in office, and the party of the first part covenants and agrees to and with the parties of the second part and with their successors in office that she will warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances unto the parties of the second part and their successors against the claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever.

In witness whereof the party of the first part hath hereto set her hand on the day and date first before written with the proviso distinctly understood and accepted that when said lot and building shall be used and occupied by a congregation not under the of or in connection with said General Assembly, the same shall revert to the second party, her heirs or assigns.

State of Kentucky, Bullitt County I Robert F. Samuels, clerk of the County Court, do certify that on the 20 day of December 1858 this deed from Mary V. Wilson to the Old School Presbyterian Church was produced to me in my office and proven by the oaths of John B. Summers and Samuel B. Williams, subscribing witnesses thereto, to be the act and deed of the said Martha V. Wilson. Whereupon I have recorded said deed and this certificate in my office this 12 day of May 1858.
