On 12 Nov 1790, Phillip Spiller of Virginia, by his attorney in fact William King, sold his 250 acre tract located on the waters of the West Fork of Cox's Creek to Thomas Whitledge who was then living in Bourbon County. The following July, Whitledge divided it up and sold parts to Thompson Overall, William Overall, and Stephen Hilton. The deed to William Overall is transcribed below.

This indenture made this 15th day of July in the year of our Lord 1791 between Thomas Whitledge of the county of Bourbon and state of Virginia of the one part and William Overall of the county of Nelson and district of Kentucky of the other part. witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of eight shillings to him in hand paid by the said William Overall, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge to the said Thomas Whitledge hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said William Overall and his heirs forever a certain tract of land or parcel of land containing 100 acres of land, being part of 250 acres that said Whitledge bought of Philip Spiller lying and being in the county of Nelson and District of Kentucky on the West Fork of Cox's Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit. Beginning at two ash trees and a sugar tree near the head of a small drain thence South 17° East 100 poles to the west fork Cox's Creek and course continued in all 200 poles to two black oak saplings a buckeye near a dry run at foot of a ridge, thence South 73° West 66 poles to a beech on a ridge, thence North 20° West 142 poles to a white oak, ash and sugar tree on the bank of Cox's Creek, thence up said creek with the same and binding with its meanders 52 poles to a sugar, elm and sycamore tree on south side said creek, thence North 20° West 44 poles to ash and sugar tree on a ridge, thence North 73° East 107 poles to the beginning and all the estate, right, title and interest of him the said Thomas Whitledge of, in and to the said premises to have and to hold the said 100 acres of land with the appurtenances unto him the said William Overall, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Thomas Whitledge for himself and his heirs doth hereby warrant and defend the said one hundred acres of land with every of its appurtenance unto him the said William Overall, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns against himself, his heirs and all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Thomas Whitledge hath set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. At a court began and held for the county of Nelson on Tuesday, the 10th day of January 1792, this deed from Thomas Whitledge to William Overall for 100 acres of land was proved by the oaths of Stephen Hilton, Caleb Wise and Thompson Overall, three of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
