Wilford Lee Heirs to Nicholas Simmons - Shepherdsville Lots 35-36

On 20 Feb 1844, Thomas Riley sold Shepherdsville lots 35-36 to Hamilton C. Ulen. On 29 Jan 1839, John J. Thomasson and Noah C. Summers had sold the two lots to Riley.

On 10 Aug 1846, Ulen mortgaged the two lots to Wilford Lee as part of an arrangement in which Lee paid the remaining $100 due to Riley. It appears that Ulen may not have redeemed his mortgage for Wilford Lee's heirs sold the lots to Nicholas Simmons on 11 Jun 1857, as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 11th day of June 1857 by and between James White and Marj. White his wife, John Swank, and Sarah Swank his wife, and Adkins H. Lee of the state of Missouri, and Ben Harned, and Elen Harned his wife of the county of Nelson and state of Kentucky, and Henry J. Craycroft and Wilford L. Craycroft. and Matilda Ann Simmons of the county of Jefferson and state of Kentucky, and Charles Lee and Phil Lee of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the first part, and Nicholas Simmons of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the second part.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $300, $200 of which is in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and $100 secured to be paid by note due on day after date, the said parties of the first part have bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Nicholas Simmons, his heirs and assigns forever, a house and lot No. 35 and 36 in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, known as the "Ulen property."

To have and to hold the said house and lot together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining by deed of general warranty. Witness our hands and seals this day and year above written.
