In 1894, the Shepherdsville trustees sold part of the courthouse square to the Troutman brothers. It was located on the southeast corner of Main and Second Streets, and would be part of where they would build their large store.

This indenture made and entered into by and between J. I. Rickerson, G. W. Maraman, J. N. Tucker, J. W. Alexander and J. F. Combs, trustees of the town of Shepherdsville, Kentucky and Troutman Bros. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $25.00 cash in hand paid, the said trustees, parties of the first part, have bargained and sold, and do hereby sell and convey to the said Troutman Bros. the following described real estate, to wit.
Beginning at the northwest corner of the lot conveyed to Troutman Bros by J. I. Rickerson and wife, lying on Main Street and running north with Main Street 12 feet, thence east about forty feet to line of lot owned by H. F. Troutman lying on Second Street, thence South 12 feet the line of H. F. Troutman's lot to the line of the lot purchased by Troutman Bros of J. I. Rickerson, thence with the line of said lot about 40 feet to the place of beginning.
To the said Troutman Bros. to have and to hold with convenant of General Warranty, but the warranty shall not bind thee parties of the first part individually. Witness our hands this 2nd day of July 1894. (signed by trustees)
