James & Mary Trent to Charles Hall - 1/5 of 196 Acres

On 19 Aug 1844, Mary Trent sold her one-fifth share of 196 acres on the north side of Salt River, and on both sides of the road leading from Bardstown to Louisville to Charles Hall as shown below.

This indenture made and entered into this 19th day of August 1844 between James Trent and Mary, his wife, formerly Mary Relfe, daughter of Thomas Relfe dec'd of Bullitt County all of the state of Kentucky of the first part and Charles Hall of the county and state aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that whereas the said, Mary Trent inherited 1/5 of the tract of land upon which her said ancestor, the said Thomas Relfe lived and died, lying and being in the said county of Bullitt on the waters of Salt River about 10 miles above Shepherdsville near to and below Clark's Ford across Salt River; and the said James Trent and Mary his wife have sold all their interest in said tract of land to the said Charles Hall.

Now this indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $130 in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said James Trent and Mary his wife, the said James Trent, and Mary his wife have granted, bargained and sold, aliened and released to the said Hall all their right, title, and interest in and to said tract of land upon which the said Thomas Relfe lived and died, and situated in the county of Bullitt as aforesaid, and do by these presents give, grant, bargain and sell, alien and relinquish to same to the said Hall forever.

To have and to hold the said described interest in the said tract of land to him the said Hall and his heirs forever, and the said James Trent and Mary his wife do covenant to and with the said Hall and his heirs and assigns that they will warrant and defend the said interest in said tract of land against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming the same by through or under them and from the claim or claims of all other persons whatever.

In testimony whereof the said James Trent and Mary his wife have hereunto set their names and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.
