John L. Thompson to School District 16 - Lebanon Junction Lot

John L. Thompson deeded this lot in Lebanon Junction to the school district on 23 Mar 1887. Once source indicates that it was located at the intersection of Oak and Brook Streets. The deed is transcribed below.


Bullitt County Deed Book 26, Pages 243-244

This indenture made and entered into this the 23rd day of March 1887 by and between John L. Thompson and Sophia Thompson his wife of the first part and Aaron Jones, J. E. Johnson and J. L. Magruder, trustees of school district number 16 in Bullitt County, Kentucky, and their successors in office forever of the second part, all of Bullitt County, state of Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the first party for and in consideration that the second parties and their successor in office keep and forever maintain a good fence around the lot herein conveyed, and that they use the same for the education of white children only, hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and deliver to the said Aaron Jones, J. E. Johnson, and J. L. Magruder, trustees as aforesaid, and their successors in office forever the following boundary of land at Lebanon Junction in Bullitt County, Kentucky on which is situated a school house.

Beginning at a stake at the edge of the Mat Cockerell county road, 15 feet from said Thompson's line and corner to the McNiel lot, thence with the line of the McNiel lot S 1° W for South 150 feet, thence parallel with Thompson's line N 68 1/4° E 100 feet , thence parallel with the McNiel lot N 1° E 150 feet to a stake 15 feet from Thompson's line at the edge of said county road and with said road and parallel with his line S 68 1/4° W 100 feet to the beginning, being part of the land allotted to the first parties in the division of the lands of Daniel Stark's heirs.

To have and to hold the same to the said trustees and their successors forever. It is expressly understood and is a part of the consideration of this conveyance that the second parties shall always keep a good fence around the lot herein conveyed, and that the said house and premises shall be used only for the education of white children; and upon the failure of the second party and their successors to comply with either of these stipulations, then the title to the property herein conveyed is to revert bacck and vest in the parties of the first part, their heirs or assigns.
