Benjamin Summers to Abraham Field - Half of Shepherdsville Lot 55

Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins had jointly purchased Shepherdsville lot #55 from Edward and Elizabeth Crow on 7 Aug 1824. Then Summers sold his share of the lot to Abraham Field as shown below. Field and Jenkins would later divide the lot between them.


Bullitt County Deed Book G, Pages 28-29

This indenture made and entered into this 20th day of October in the year of our Lord 1828 between Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and Abraham Field of the same county and state of the other part.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $204.60 by the said Field to the said Summers in hand paid, the receipt whereof he does hereby acknowledge, they the said Benjamin Summers and wife have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Field one undivided moiety of a certain lot of ground situate lying and being in the town of Shepherdsville, and known on the new plan of said town by the number 53 [actually 55] containing by survey of said town one-half acre, being the same lot of ground which was conveyed by Thomas Allen to Elizabeth Crow who was Elizabeth Skiles, and bearing date the 23rd day of February 1816, and from Edward Crow and the said Elizabeth Crow who was Elizabeth Skiles to the said Benjamin Summers and George W. Jenkins by and bearing date the 7th August 1824, both of which deeds are of record in the Clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court.

To have and to hold the said undivided moiety or half of said one-half acre lot of ground with all and singular the improvements and appurtenances to him the said Field, his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife for themselves, their heirs &c do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Field that they will forever warrant and defend the said undivided moiety or half of the said one-half acre lot of ground against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever; excepting however out of this conveyance the ground now occupied by the log stable now standing on said lot 36 by 24 feet of ground on the northeast corner of said lot which is understood to be reserved and not conveyed by these presents.

In testimony whereof the said Benjamin Summers and Verlinder his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and date above written. [signed by grantors]
