Rufus K. Summers to Charles Bell - 60.25 Acres

On 21 Nov 1855, Rufus K. Summers sold a bit more than 60 acres of land to Charles Bell that contained the mill works that would become known as Bell's Mill.

For and in consideration of the sum of $5500 paid and to be paid as follows to-wit, $2500 by note due and payable, $1000 payable in one year after date, $1000 payable two years after date, and $1000 payable three years after date, all bearing interest from date until paid and dated first day of March 1855.

We R. K. Summers and Sedna Ann his wife have sold to Charles Bell one tract of land, and appurtenances thereto belonging including a water, saw and grist mill and other improvements containing 60 1/4 acres more or less lying and being in the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky on Floyd's Fork of Salt River and bounded as follows, viz.

Beginning at [ A ] an elm and two beech trees on said fork about one pole above low water mark, thence South 15° East 43 poles 20 links to [ B ] a stone in the center of the road, corner to the school house lot, thence South 88° 30' West 27 poles 17 links to [ C ] a stone in said road, thence South 65° 30' West 19 poles 20 links to [ D ] a stone in said road, thence South 63° West 69 poles three links to [ E ] a stone in the road, thence South 69 1/2° West nine poles to [ F ] a stone in said road on the east side of a spring branch, thence South 6° 30' West 10 poles three links crossing the said spring branch to [ G ] a small popular, thence South 17° East 22 3/4 poles to [ H ] an elm sapling one pole above the mouth of said spring branch on the bank of the fork, thence up the said fork as it meanders to low water mark the following courses: South 61° 30' West 28 1/2 poles, [ I ] North 82 1/2° West 13 poles, [ J ] North 46° West 7 3/4 poles, [ K ] North 40° West 37 1/5 poles, [ L ] North 2° East 18 poles, [ M ] North 39° East 20 poles, [ N ] North 48° 30' East 28 poles, [ O ] North 62° 30' East 16 poles, [ P ] North 72° East 78 poles, to [ Q ] three large Sycamores, thence North 76° East 20 poles, [ R ] North 78 1/2° East 24 poles to [ A ] the beginning, containing 60 1/4 acres more or less.

To have and to hold together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the Charles Bell and his heirs against the claim of themselves and all other persons, reserving a lien on the premises for the payment of the aforesaid amounts of purchase money.
