Humphrey Simmons to Henry Stallings - 100 Acres

On 31 Jan 1800, Humphrey Simmons sold 100 acres to Henry Stallings that was part of Marsham Brashear's original settlement and preemption. It was later owned by Richard Simmons who sold this part to Humphrey.

This indenture made the 31st day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred between Humphrey Simmons of the one part and Henry Stallings of the other part both of Bullitt County and state of Kentucky, witnesseth that the said Humphrey Simmons and Verlinda his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and sold to the said Henry Stallings a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the said county on the waters of Salt River containing one hundred acres more or less it being part of Marsham Brashear's settlement and preemption and bounded as follows, to wit, beginning at two beeches corner to Joseph Simmons' land running thence North 76° West 95 1/4 poles to a white oak and red oak, thence South 14° West 168 poles to two dogwoods and hickory, thence South 76° East 94 and 1/4 poles to a hickory and elm, thence North 14° East 168 poles to the beginning with all its appurtenances to have and to hold the said trac or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Henry Stallings and his heirs to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Henry Stallings and his heirs forever, and the said Humphrey Simmons and Verlinda his wife the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances to the said Henry Stallings and his heirs and assigns against the claim of all persons whatsoever doth forever warrant and defend. In witness whereof the said Humphrey Simmons and Verlinda his wife hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. Received of Henry Stallings before the sealing and delivery of this indenture full satisfaction for the consideration money expressed. (signed) Humphrey Simmons.

Bullitt County Sct At a court of quarter sessions held for said county on the 31st day of January 1800 this indenture was acknowledged by the within named Humphrey Simmons and Verlinda his wife to be their act and deed as also the receipt above written and the said Verlinda relinquished her rights of dower therein which is ordered to be recorded.
