On 19 Nov 1827, William W. Simmons and Nathan Miles sold their title to part of Shepherdsville lot 41 to Matthew and Samuel Wilson, as shown below. Miles had obtained title to the tract in a tax collection sale. It had been the property of James Holmes prior to that.
Bullitt County Deed Book F, Pages 396-397
This indenture made and entered into this 19th day of November in the year of our Lord 1827 between William W. Simmons, Nathan Miles and Rhoda Miles, his wife, of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part and Matthew and Samuel Willson of the same county and state of the other part.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $500 by the said Willsons to the said Miles in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said William W. Simmons and Nathan Miles and Rhoda, his wife, have bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey unto the said Willsons a certain lot of ground lying in said county and town of Shepherdsville with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, being that part of lot number 41 in the new plan of said town, which was sold by E. K. Willson, deputy for Jesse Willson, sheriff of Bullitt County, to said Nathan Miles as the property of James Holmes, and the same which was sold by William Caldwell, deputy sheriff for Clifton Hall, sheriff of Bullitt County, to the said William W. Simmons as the property of said Nathan Miles as per deeds of record in the clerk's office of the Bullitt County Court will show, being all that part of said lot No. 41 which was purchased by James Holmes of Mary Welch, and which has not been by the said Holmes sold and conveyed to Samuel Burks and William Caldwell, and which lies between the parts of said lot sold and conveyed to Matthew and Samuel Willson by Benjamin Summers and Velinda his wife, and by said James Holmes to said Burks and Caldwell.
To have and to hold the said lot or part of lot with all and singular the appurtenances and improvements thereunto belonging to them the said Willsons, their heirs &c forever, and the said Nathan Miles and Rhoda his wife for themselves, their heirs &c covenant to and with the said Matthew and Samuel Willson that they will forever warrant and defend the said lot of ground with improvements to them the said Willsons, their heirs &c against the claim or claims of them the said Miles and wife, their heirs &c and all persons claiming or to claim the same by, through or under them, and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever; it being expressly understood that the said Simmons does not warrant to title of said lot in any manner, nor is he to be responsbile for the purchase money in case the same should be lost, he having become a party hereto at the desire of said Miles and that for the purposes of releasing the claim which he acquired by the before mentioned purchase at sheriff's sale.
In testimony whereof the said William W. Simmons and Nathan Miles and Rhoda his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and date above.
