On 13 Jul 1833, Rufus K. Summers sold parts of Shepherdsville lots 23 and 24 to John J. Thompson. This tract lay to the west of the old jail and fronted on what was then called the Main Cross Street as described in the deed transcription below.

This indenture made this thirteenth day of July 1833 between Rufus K. Summers and Erastes his wife of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and John J. Thompson of the same county and state of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Rufus K. Summers and Erastes his wife for and in consideration of the sum of $300 current money of the United States to them in hand paid before the sealing and delivery thereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said John J. Thompson, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land, being part of lots No. 23 and 24 in the new plan of the town of Shepherdsville and bounded as follows, to wit.
Beginning on the northwest corner of the jail, thence South 6 1/2° West 40 feet to the north line of Main Cross Street of said town, thence with said street line North 83 1/2° West 83 feet to Joseph R. Murray's southeast corner, thence with his line North 6 1/2° East 25 feet to his northeast corner, thence with another of his lines North 83 1/2° West 35 feet to said Murray's northwest corner, thence North 6 1/2° East 15 feet, thence South 83 1/2° East 118 feet to the beginning.
To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land and appurtenances unto him the said John J. Thompson, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Rufus K. Summers and Erastes his wife covenant and agree to and with the said John J. Thompson that they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the said described and bounded piece or parcel of land and appurtenances unto him the said John J. Thompson, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns from themselves and their heirs, and from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim the same.
