It appears from this deed that Thomas Stansbury purchased this Shepherdsville lot from Adam Shepherd, but did not get a deed. His son Joshua Stansbury received an order from Shepherd to the trustees for the lot, as shown below.

This indenture made the second day of September in the year of our Lord 1818 between James Alexander, John Grayham and Charles Jones as trustees of the town of Shepherdsville in the county of Bullitt of the one part and Joshua Stansbury of the same county of the other part.
Whereas the before named Joshua Stansbury hath provided from Adam Shepherd, the proprietor of the land over which said town has been established, and produced to us and order in the following words and figures to wit. "The trustees of Shepherdsville will please make a deed to Joshua Stansbury for lot number 16 in the new plan of Shepherdsville, he being one of the heirs of Thomas Stansbury from whom I received full satisfaction for said lot. Witness my hand this first day of June 1818. (signed) Adam Shepherd. Witness: Wilford Lee."
Now this indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and the power vested in the said trustees by law they do grant, bargain, sell and convey to the sad Joshua Stansbury and his heirs forever all the right, title, interest and claim of the said Adam Shepherd and his heirs and of the said trustees and their successors at, in and to the said lot number 16, together with all and singular the advantages to the lot belonging or in wise appertaining.
To have and to hold the said lot of land and appurtenances unto the say Joshua Stansbury and his heirs to and for his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever.
In witness whereof the said trustees have set their hands and seals the day and year first above mentioned. (signed) James Alexander, John Grayham, Charles Jones
I James Halbert, clerk of Bullitt County Court in the state of Kentucky, do certify that on the 2nd day of September 1818, James Alexander, John Grayham and Charles Jones personally before me in my office acknowledged the foregoing indenture of bargain and sale to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. I do further certify that I have truly recorded the said indenture together with this certificate in my said office. Given under my hand this 27th day of September 1818. (signed) James Halbert
