Shepherdsville Trustees to Thomas C. Brashear - Lot 6 (New Plan)

Thomas C. Brashear purchased this lot in 1797 as shown below. However, the trustees later sold it to Samuel Crow in 1814.

This indenture made this 10th day of January in the year of our Lord 1797 between Nacy Brashear, Samuel Crow, Michael Troutman, Frederick Panebaker, Benjamin Stansbury and John Essery, Gentlemen, trustees of the town of Shepherdsville of the one part and Thomas C. Brashear of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the other part.

Whereas by a late act of assembly for establishing the town of Shepherdsville at the Falls of Salt River, 50 acres of land, the forfeited property of a certain Adam Shepherd, is vested in Nacy Brashear, Samuel Crow, Michael Troutman, Frederick Panebaker, Benjamin Stansbury and John Essery, Gentlemen, as trustees to the said town to be by them, or any four of them, laid off, disposed of and conveyed as by the said act of assembly directed, and the said land being now laid off accordingly, this indenture.

Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of 4 pounds, 9 shillings current money of Kentucky to the trustees in hand paid by the said Thomas C. Brashear, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, hereof duly release, acquit and discharge the said Thomas C. Brashear, his heirs, executor and administrators by these presents, the said trustees have granted, bargained and sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said Brashear, his heirs and assigns forever a lot of land in the said town of Shepherdsville, number 26 sold at the second sale and purchased by John Scott, and all the appurtenances hereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders cost, issues and profits thereof.

To have and to hold the lot of land hereby conveyed to said Thomas C. Brashear, his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said Brashear and of his heirs and assigns forever, and the said trustees do covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas C. Brashear, his heirs and assigns that the said lot of land hereby granted shall be free and clear from all manner of encumbrances whatsoever (subject only to the conditions expressed in the aforesaid act of assembly) and also the said trustees do hereby warrant the aforesaid a lot of land from the claim of all and every person claiming by, from or under them or any of them.
