Sarah Beckwith to Benjamin Summers - Multiple Tracts

On 3 Jun 1829, Sarah Beckwith, daughter of the late John Beckwith, sold her share of her father's estate to Benjamin Summers. The deed is shown below.


Bullitt County Deed Book G, Pages 88-89

This indenture made this 3rd day of June 1829, between Sarah Beckwith, one of the children and heirs of John Beckwith dec'd of Bullitt County, Kentucky of the one part and Benjamin Summers of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Sarah Beckwith, for and in consideration of he sum of $372 current money of the United States to the said Sarah in hand paid by the said Benjamin, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Benjamin Summers all my interest, right and claim of in and to the following tracts or parcels of land of which my father John Beckwith died seized, laying in Bullitt principally and in Hardin Counties, 352 acres together with 40 acres adjoining the same called the home place in Bullitt county, a reference to the conveyances from H. Crist and Rob. McClelland for the 352 and from George Reed for the 40 acres of record in the Bullitt County Court Office to said John Beckwith will more particularly specify the boundaries. Also 100 acres purchased by said John Beckwith of Seth B. Thornberry in Bullitt County, reference to the deed of record will particularly show the boundary. Also 250 acres in Hardin county purchased by said John Beckwith at sheriff's sale as Adam Shepherd's property. Be the same more or less in each and all said tracts of land of 352 and 40 and 100 and 252 acres. To have and to hold unto the said Benjamin Sumers and his heirs forever my entire interest and right in and to the said several tracts of land aforesaid, more or less to him and his heirs forever.

And I the said Sarah Beckwith do also convey all interest which I derived by purchase or otherwise in said lands from John W. Beckwith as one of the heirs of said John unto said Benjamin Summers and his heirs forever, said John W. Beckwith having since the death of said John Beckwith conveyed his interest in said lands to the balance of his brothers and sisters &c as by reference to said deeds shows. And i am only to warrant and defend to said Benjamin Summers all my interests derived as heir and by conveyance as aforesaid in said lands agains the claims of myself and those claiming under me and against none others. Witness my hand and seal this date aforesaid. (signed) Sarah Beckwith
