On 23 Feb 1801, Thomas Saunders sold 100 acres to Peter Smith that lay on the waters of Cedar Creek, a tributary of Floyd's Fork. The deed is transcribed below.

This indenture made in the year of our Lord 1801, February the 23rd 1801 between Thomas Sanders and Mary his wife of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Peter Smith of the other part of Jefferson County and state aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Sanders and his wife, for and in the consideration of the sum of $600 to them paid in hand, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and themselves both fully satisfied, doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto said Peter 100 acres of land lying on the waters of Cedar Creek and in Bullitt County and bounded as follows, to wit.
Beginning at a poplar and beech trees standing in a line of the original survey and corner to Carter Wells' part of a survey of 400 acres of land surveyed and patented in the name of Thomas Hardin, and running thence S 55° E 148 poles to two sugar trees and forked beech, corner to the original, thence S 35° W 108 to a dogwood and three beech trees, thence N 55° W 148 poles to a stone in said Wells' line and with said line N 35° E 108 poles to the beginning.
The above described tract of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging the said Thomas Sanders and Mary his wife binds themselves, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend unto the said Smith and his heirs forever against him the said Sanders, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns and all claiming under him, them or either of them, and all and every other person whatsoever, and that the said Sanders, his executors or administrators shall and will at any time hereafter required give and grant, make over and convey by any other conveyances that may be lawfully advised, devised or required by the said Smith's counsel learned in the law for the said 100 acres above mentioned with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Smith, his heirs and assigns forever in as full, free and absolute a manner as can be by words expressed according to the true intent and meaning of these presents. In witness whereof the said Sanders and his wife hath hereunto set their hand and affixed their seals the day and year above mentioned.
