John Nusz to Vardiman Crenshaw- 30 Acres

On 6 Nov 1815, Samuel Simmons made application to County Court to build a water grist mill abutting his dam on Cedar Creek, south of Salt River, through the land where his race would run, and where the mill house would stand. [Bullitt County Order Book D, page 213] It appears from the deed description that the dam was on property he later sold to Cosby Crenshaw in 1824. Crenshaw sold 30 acres of this tract to William Temple on 1 Apr 1844. Temple then, on 22 Mar 1845, sold the tract to John Nusz. Nusz sold the tract to Vardiman Crenshaw, as shown below.

This indenture made this 3rd June 1954 between John Nusz and Philipene Nusz his wife of the first part and Vardiman Crenshaw of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of $500 in hand paid, hath bargained and sold unto the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns the following tract or parcel of land lying and being on Cedar Creek and the place called Nusz's Mills and bounded as follows.

Beginning on the north side of Cedar Creek at the head of the race opposite the dam at a white oak, thence N 39°23' W (for 40°) 91 1/2 poles to a stake corner, an ash, thence S 35° W 44 poles to a large cedar and small white oak standing on the south edge of the top of the clift, thence N 79°10' W (for 82°) 41 poles to a large poplar and large white oak on the slope and near the top of the clift, thence with new marked lines N 75° W 46 poles to a red oak, ironwood and cedar on the clift, S 64° W 44 1/2 poles to a sugartree, ironwood and white oak in Simmons' line on the clift, S 17 1/2° E (for 15°) with Simmons' line 19 poles to two sugartrees and sycamore on the bank of Cedar Creek, thence up said creek with its meanders to the beginning, containing 30 acres more or less.

To have and to hold said described tract or parcel of land and improvements unto the said Crenshaw, his heirs and assigns against the claim of said Nusz and wife and all others claiming or to claim the same in any way whatever. In witness whereof the parties of the first part hath hereto set their hands and seals the day and year first written.
