On 28 Jun 1877, the Circuit Court Master Commissioner sold parts of Thomas Joyce's estate to pay his debts. As a part of that sale, R. J. Meyler purchased the part of Shepherdsville lots 39 and 40 that earlier had been purchased by Joyce from A. H. Field's estate.
On 7 Sep 1880, R. J. Meyler sold this ground to Margaret Givens as shown below. Then on 13 Apr 1881, John and Margaret Givens sold it to James Rooksby.

This indenture entered into this 7th day of September 1880 by R. J. Meyler and Josie B. Meyler his wife of the first part, and Margaret Givens of the second part, all of Bullitt County, State of Kentucky.
Witnesseth that the first parties in consideration of $300, $138.85 due and payable 25 December 1884, and $138.85 due and payable 25 December 1885, evidenced by the notes of Thomas W. Wells this day assigned to the first party, both dated 24th August 1880, bearing interest from 25 December 1880, and the further sum of $22.30 evidenced by the second party's note, signed by her husband John Givens, due and payable now, the receipt of all of same hereby acknowledged, they the first parties hereby sell, convey and deliver to the second party with covenant of general warranty the following property, to wit.
A certain house and lot and appurtenances thereon and belonging thereto, lying in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Ky., on Main Street, being parts of lots Nos. 39 & 40 in the new plan of said town
Beginning on Main Street at the southeast corner of said lot No. 40, thence with the line of the alley, North 83 1/2° West 198 feet, 11 inches to the southwest corner of lot No. 39 on School Alley. Thence with a line of said alley North 6 1/2° East 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 198 feet, 11 inches to a stake on Main Street. Thence with a line of said street 39 feet, 8 3/4 inches to the beginning, and being the same lots purchased by the first party at Commissioner's sale as the property of the Joyce Heirs, and the same theretofore sold by R. H. Field and james Shanklin to said Joyce, reference to said deeds is had to show said boundary of lots.
