H. O. Maraman to John Rickerson - Shepherdsville Lot

In 1849, H. O. Maraman sold part of a lot fronting on Main Street next to the Clerk's Office to John Rickerson. The deed below gives the names of some previous owners. An earlier deed identifies the lot as No. 25 (new plan).

This indenture mae this 17th of March 1849 between Henry O. Maraman and Elvira his wife of Bullitt County and State of Kentucky of one part and John Rickerson of Shepherdsville, same county and state of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry O. Maraman for and in consideration of the sum of $250.00 payable as follows: a black mare now paid at $70 and Rickerson's notes for $90 payable in 12 months and interest from date, and $90 payable in 18 months and interest from date, the receipt of the evidences of which is hereby acknowledged, they the said Henry O. Maraman and wife have sold and conveyed and by these presents do sell, convey and confirm unto him the said John Rickerson and to his heirs and assigns forever the following lot of ground and appurtenances in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Ky., adjoining the clerk's office lot fronting Main Street and adjoining the lot of R. H. Field in front and H. J. Craycraft back, fronting on Main Street from said Field lot 39 feet and running back to Craycraft's lot, being the same lot conveyed by R. H. Field to Francis Maraman, devise of W. W. Maraman and by Maraman to said H. O. Maraman and G. W. Maraman, and by said G. W. Maraman to said H. O. Maraman - reference to the deeds of record in Bullitt County Court office will show the same with the appurtenances to the house and lot belonging or in anywise appertaining.

To have and to hold the said lot of ground and appurtenances unto him the said John Rickerson and to his heirs and assigns forever, and they the said Henry O. Maraman and wife covenant and agree to and with the said John Rickerson and his heirs or assigns that they the said Henry O. Maraman and wife will and their heirs &c shall warrant and forever defend the said lot and appurtenances here sold and conveyed unto him the said John Rickerson and to his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of all persons whatever, and by consent a lien is here retained on the lot &c for the said purchase money. Maraman to pay the half of the price of the paving &c fronting said property. Witness the hands and seals of said Maraman and wife the date first herein written. (signed) Henry O. Maraman, Elvira E.
