Following the death of John Larue, his heirs employed Benjamin Stansbury to plot a 21,000 acre survey in his name that extended from Floyd's Fork and the road from Shepherdsville to Louisville as far north as a point on Fern Creek in Jefferson County. The deed they received for this land is described on another page.
According to that deed, they were claiming only tracts of land within the 21,000 acres that were not already being claiming by others. As time passed the heirs sold their rights to these tracts to land speculators who are named in the deed below. This deed serves to verify and support earlier deeds made by the Larue heirs.

This indenture made this 13th day of September, 1817, between George Helm and Rebecca his wife, James Larue, and Phoebe his wife, Conrad Walters and Margaret his wife, and Squire Larue of the county of Hardin, and state of Kentucky of the one part, the said, Rebecca, Phoebe, Margaret, and Squire being the children and heirs of John Larue deceased, and William Pope, Jr., Robert Breckinridge, and Worden Pope of the county of Jefferson in the same state of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said George and Rebecca his wife, James Larue and Phoebe his wife, Conrad and Margaret his wife, and Squire, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar current money of the United States to them in hand paid by the said William, Robert and Worden, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, aliened, released, and enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, enfeoff, convey and confirm unto the said William, Robert and Worden and their heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land containing 21,000 acres, be the same more or less, lying and being in the counties of Bullitt and Jefferson on the north side of the knobs and between Floyd's Fork and the trace which leads from Bullitt's Lick to Louisville entered on the third day of February 1783 in the name of the said John Larue, surveyed in the name of his (said) heirs on the 3rd day of August 1792 and patented in the name of said heirs the 16th day of May 1793, and which tract of land is bounded on the north by a line running from two ash trees and two elms standing on the south bank of Fern Creek, S 72° E 2655 poles to a large hoopwood and a large beech on the bank of Floyd's Fork which land the said George, Rebecca and Squire by two several deeds and the said Conrad and Margaret by two several deeds, signed, sealed and delivered by them, conveyed to the said William, Robert, Worden and Alexander Pope.
The first of which deed made by the said George Helm and Rebecca his wife and Squire Larue and Polly his wife bears date the first day of April 1806 and is made to the said William Pope Jr., Worden Pope and Alexander Pope, and is for one equal undivided moiety or half part of the said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances, and the second of which deeds made by the said George Helm and Rebecca his wife, and Squire Larue bearing date the first day of May 1807 and is made to the said William, Worden and Alexander for all the right, title, claim, interest, estate and fee of them the said George and Rebecca his wife, and Squire Larue of, in and to the whole of the said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances.
The first deed made by the said Conrad Walters and Margaret his wife bearing date the 15th day of June 1811 and is made to the said William Pope Jr., Robert Breckinridge and Worden Pope is for all the right, title, claim, interest, estate and fee of them the said Conrad and Margaret aforesaid to the said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances, having one undivided fourth part thereof, and the second of which deeds made by the said Conrad and Margaret his wife bears date the 17th day of February 1812, and is made to the said William Jr., Worden and Robert, and is for all the right, title, claim, interest, estate and fee of them the said Conrad and Margaret his wife of in and to the said 21,000 acres of land with all the appurtenances.
The first deed made by the said James Larue and Phebe his wife bears date the 20th day of January 1810 and is made by them to the said William Jr., Robert and Worden, and is for all the right, title, claim, interest and fee of them the said James and Phebe his wife of, in and to the said 21,000 acres of land with all the appurtenances, and the second deed made by the said James Larue and Phebe his wife was also made to the said William Jr., Robert and Worden, and bore date in the spring of the year 1812 (but is lost or mislaid) and is for all the right, title, interest and fee of them the said James and Phebe of, in and to the said 21,000 acres of land with all the appurtenances.
And and all the estate, right, title, claim, interest and fee of them the said George and Rebecca his wife, James and Phebe his wife, Conrad and Margaret his wife, and Squire Larue of, in and to the same, and they do acknowledge and confirm the deeds aforesaid as by them respectively, made according to their several dates, and do declare the same good and valid at law and in equity to pass the right, title, interest, estate and fee of, in and to the said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances as if the same deeds had on the days of the dates thereof been respectively signed, sealing delivered and acknowledged by the said George and Rebecca his wife, Squire and Mary his wife, James and Phebe his wife, and Conrad and Margaret his wife in due form of law, and as if the said Rebecca, Phebe and Margaret had then been privily examined as the law then directed and now directs.
To have and to hold the said 21,000 acres of land, be the same more or less, with all the appurtenances unto the said William Pope Jr., Robert Breckinridge and Worden Pope, and to their heirs and assigns to their only proper use and behoof forever, the said Alexander Pope having by his deed signed, sealed and delivered and duly recorded bearing date the 10th day of May 1807 conveyed all his right, title, claim, interest, estate and fee of in and to the said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said William Pope Jr., and to his heirs and assigns.
But it is agreed to by the parties to these presents that this deed is not at all to increase or alter the contract or the ability of the said George and Rebecca his wife, Squire Larue and Mary his wife, James and Phebe his wife, and Conrad and Margaret his wife under the before mentioned deeds, the said deeds and this deed being in the nature of quit claims, and made to invest the said William Jr., Robert and Worden with all the right of the said Rebecca, Phebe, Squire and Margaret of in and to said 21,000 acres of land with the appurtenances which vested in them as heirs of John Larue dec'd by virtue of the said entry, survey and patent, and to place the said William, Robert and Worden in the shoes and stead of the said George, Rebecca, James, Phebe, Squire and Conrad and Margaret and no more. In witness whereof the said George, Rebecca, James, Phebe, Squire, Conrad and Margaret have hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year first written.
