In 1820, via a Circuit Court decree, John Beckwith as commissioner deeded Shepherdsville lot #44 to William Jones from the estate of James Brown deceased. This was following a court suit brought by Elizabeth Griffin against the Brown estate. Then on 21 Jul 1828, the same lot was sold to Richard P. Simmons via a ruling by the Court of Appeals, as shown below.

This indenture made this 21st day of July in the year of our Lord 1828 between Richard Taylor, Sergeant of the court of appeals, and Richard P Simmons.
Witness that where as a writ of venditioni exponas has issued from the clerk's office of the General Court of Kentucky in .. of the Commonwealth of Kentucky against the estate of George F. Pope, clerk of the Bullitt Circuit Court, and William Jones &c securities for $45.60 debt & 18% damages and $12.05 cost, dated the 21st of May 1828, returnable to te Saturday succeeding the first Monday in August next, directed to te Sergeant of the Court of Appeals, which execution hath been levied by Lewis M. Taylor, D.S.C.A. on a house and lot situate, lying and being in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, and known and designated on the new plan of said town by the number 44 on the corner of Walnut and Second Streets, taken as the property of William Jones, and the said William Jones failing to pay the same, the above property was exposed to sale by said L. M. Taylor D.S.C.A. on the 21st July 1828 at Shepherdsville in Bullitt County for Commonwealth paper in hand of which time and place of sale the said William Jones had legal notice, and the said Richard P. Simmons, having given the highest bid of $66.77, and having paid the amount became the purchaser.
Now the said Richard Taylor, S.C.A., hath sold and conveyed unto the said Richard P. Simmons, his heirs and assigns, all the right, title and interest of the said William Jones in and to the aforesaid house and lot No. 44.
To have to to hold the aforesaid house and lot No. 44 for his own use and benefit. In testimony whereof the said Richard Taylor, S.C.A., by Lewis M. Taylor, D.S.C.A., hath signed his named and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
