J. M. Herps to Thomas and Lee Herps - 10 Acres

On 22 Oct 1888, Lucinda Bolton sold 9.75 acres along the road to Cane Spring to John McElvaney Herps. He would later sell it to his brothers Thomas and Lee in 1900, as shown below.

Bullitt County Deed Book 33, Pages 460-461

This deed made and entered into this third day of April, 1900 by and between J. M. Herps and his wife, Lizzie Herps, parties of the first part, and Thomas W. Herps and Lee V. Herps jointly, parties of the second part.

Witness that the sad first parties, for and in (consideration) of the sum of $100 paid and to be paid as follows - $50 cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and the remaining sum of $50 to be paid 12 months after this date, for which sum the said second parties have executed their joint promissory note of even date, bearing 6% per annum interest from date until paid, hath bargained and sold and hereby convey with covenant of "General Warranty" unto the said second parties, their heirs and assigns forever, the following tract of land situated in Bullitt County, Kentucky on the county road leading from Cedar Grove to Bardstown, bounded as follows.

Beginning at a stone, where originally a beech stood, corner to the Casper Herps lands, and with his line N 40° E 55 poles to a stone at the county road; thence with the road N 42 1/2° W 17 3/4 poles to an elm; thence N 16° W 11 poles 3 links to a stone on the side of the road opposite G. B. Herp's residence; thence S 40° W 65 poles to a stone in C. Herps' line; thence with same S 53° E 26 1/2 poles to the beginning, containing 10 acres more or less, and being the same land conveyed to said J. M. Herps by Lucinda Bolton by deed of date October 22nd 1888, recorded in Deed Book No. 27, page 345 in the office of the Clerk of the Bullitt County Court.
