On 8 Apr 1845, James Taylor sold two tracts to John Markwell. The first included 40 acres on the waters of Broad Run. The other was a bit more that 50 acres, also on the waters of Broad Run.

This indenture may this eighth day of April in the year of our Lord 1845 between James Taylor and Letuah his wife of Newport, Campbell County and state of Kentucky of the one part and John Markwell of Bullitt County and aforesaid of the other part.
Witness that the said James Taylor and wife hath for and in consideration of the sum of $80 to them in hand paid by the said John Markwell, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said John Markwell and his heirs forever, a certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the county of Bullitt on the waters of Broad Run, a branch of Floyd's Fork, and bounded as follows to-wit.
Beginning at a white oak tree, corner to Alexander King's survey of 148 acres, thence with said King's line North 10° East 45 poles to two white oaks and red elm, Kings' corner, thence South 80° East 10 poles to a white oak and two hickory trees, John Markwell's corner, thence with his line North 10° East 25 poles to a walnut, hickory and buckeye trees, thence North 80° West 98 poles to a white oak and sugar tree on Risley's line, thence South 80° West 66 poles to a popular tree, corner to Cunningham in King's old original line, thence South 80° East 88 poles to the beginning, containing 40 acres, be the same more or less.
Also for and in consideration of the sum of $50 to them in hand paid by the aforesaid John Markwell the said James Taylor and Katurah his wife have bargained and sold unto the said John Markwell and his heirs forever another tract or parcel of land lying in Bullitt County on the waters of Broad Run and bounded as follows viz.
Beginning at an elm and hickory standing in a line of William Adkins and John Markwell's land running thence with Adkins' line North 80° West 96 poles to a white oak, King's original corner, thence South 10° West 84 poles binding on Elishu Risley's land to a white oak and sugar tree, thence South 80° East 96 poles to a hickory and walnut trees standing in a line of John Markwell's land, thence with Markwell's line North 10° East 84 poles to the beginning containing 50 1/4 acres and 24 poles, be the same more or less.
To have and to hold the two above described tracks or parcels of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to his the said John Markwell, his heirs, their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever, and the said James Taylor and Keturah his wife covenant and agree to and with the said John Markwell and his heirs and assigns that they will and their heirs shall forever warrant and defend the title of the two above described tracts or parcels of land from themselves, their heirs and from the claim of all persons claiming in through or by them unto the said John Markwell and his heirs forever. In testimony whereof the said Taylor and wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above written. (signed by grantors' attorney in fact)
