Isaac Hornbeck to Samuel Hornbeck - 214 Acres

On 15 Feb 1799, Isaac Hornbeck sold 214 acres to his son Samuel. This was part of the 700 acres Isaac had purchased from Edward Williams.

Bullitt County Deed Book A, Pages 77-78

This indenture made this the 15th day of February 1799 between Isaac Hornbeck of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel Hornbeck of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for an in consideration of the sum of twenty shillings, current money of Kentucky to the said Isaac Hornbeck in hand paid by the said Samuel Hornbeck, on or before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof doth release, acquit and discharge the said Samuel Hornbeck, his heirs, executors and administrators. By these presents he the said Isaac Hornbeck hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Samuel Hornbeck, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky, being a part of the tract the said Isaac Hornbeck purchased of Edward Williams, and bounded as followeth.

Beginning at Edward Williams' southeast corner and running North with said line 115 poles to two beeches and a walnut, thence West 108 poles to an ironwood, thence North 77° West 40 poles to a sugar and dogwood, thence West 32 poles to a standing stone marked S.H., thence North 20 poles to a stone marked S.H., thence West 76 poles to a white oak, elm and sugar on the bank of Brooks' Run, thence South 8° West 32 poles to a hickory and black oak on the bank of Brooks' Run, thence South 10° East crossing the mill dam at a post near the middle of the dam and on that course 88 poles to a mulberry and ironwood standing between a high cliff of rocks and Brooks' Run, thence South 50° West 20 poles to a sugar on the bank of Brooks' Run, thence South 45° East 5 poles to a white oak, beech and maple on the east bank of Brooks' Run at Robert Shanklin's preemption line, thence East with said line to the beginning, to include 214 acres, to hold the said land hereby conveyed and all and singular the premises hereby granted, and every part and parcel thereof with these and every of their appurtenances unto the said Samuel Hornbeck, his heirs and assigns forever, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel Hornbeck.

And he the said Isaac Hornbeck doth warrant and forever defend the said land with all its appurtenances from the claim of him, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. (signed) Isaac Hornbeck, Elizabeth Hornbeck.

At a county court held for the county of Bullitt on Tuesday the 23rd day of April 1799, this indenture of bargain and sale from Isaac Hornbeck and Elizabeth his wife to Samuel Hornbeck was acknowledged by the said Elizabeth to be here act and deed, dower relinquished, and was proved as to she said, Isaac by John Hornbeck, Solomon Hornbeck and William Hicks, and ordered to be recorded.
