George Jones' Heirs to Noah Jones - 495 Acres

On 18 Jun 1851 the heirs of George Jones sold this tract to Noah Jones as shown below. We've attempted to plot the tract boundary, but there appear to be some issues, either with directions or measurements.

This indenture made and entered into this 18th day of June in the year 1851 between James Wigginton and Mildred Wigginton his wife, John Jones and Caroline Jones his wife, Jesse Jones and Ellen Jones his wife, Simeon Jones and Ann M. Jones his wife of the County of Spencer and State of Kentucky, Enoch Jones and Mary Jones his wife, Lindsey Jones, all the last named persons of the County of Bullitt and state aforesaid, being heirs and divisees of George Jones dec'd, and Elizabeth Jones, widow of said George Jones dec'd of the County of Bullitt and State aforesaid of the first part, and Noah Jones of the County of Bullitt and State aforesaid of the second part.

Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of $7,139.30 in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Noah Jones, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky on the waters of Broad Run and bounded as follows to-wit:

Beginning at a beech tree in a line of William King's 1000 acre survey and a line of William Owen's 400 acre survey, thence South 8°30' West (for 8°) 12 poles to a hickory tree, thence South 81°15' East 22 poles to two beech trees, thence South 4°20' West 168 1/2 poles to a sugar tree and hickory, thence South 83° East (for 80°) 34 poles to a hickory and dogwood, thence North 6°30' East 168 poles to a stone and beech tree, thence South 82° East 103 1/4 poles to a white oak and beach tree, thence North 10°30' East 106 1/2 poles to a stone, thence North 80°15' West 127 poles to a large popular on the south side of the Mt. Washington Road, thence with said road North 56° East 34 1/2 poles, North 82° East 22 1/2 poles, North 43° East 37 1/2 poles to a stone in said road and in the original line of Russell's and Eli Burkett's surveys, thence with said line North 10° East 15 poles to a stone in said line near a branch, thence North 68°30' West 55 1/2 poles to a stone in a field, thence North 22° East 67 poles to a stone in the original line of the Russell tract and the tract of Hancock, now Lewis Jones' heirs, thence with said line North 80° West 129 poles to a stone (originally a sugar tree and hickory) and a corner to the Russell tract in a line of Matthias Smock's land, thence with Smock's line South 10° West 159 poles to a sugar tree and ash (originally a sugar tree and two ashes) corner to Smock's land thence North 80°15' West 271 poles to a buckeye and white oak near a small branch and passing Smock's corner at 15 poles and a sugar tree corner to Markwell's at 103 1/2 poles, thence South 10° West 120 poles to a stake between a small white oak and black oak saplings and passing James Risley's corner, a hickory at 82 poles and running one pole five links west of the same, thence North 85°30' East (for 80°) 304 poles to the place of beginning passing an elm marked as a corner tree at 96 poles and supposed to ber a corner to John Markwell's 50 acre tract and is South 19° West 6 poles 18 links from a fallen hickory and a sugar tree and white oak claimed by John Markwell as his corner to his 102 3/4 acre tract, also passing a white oak marked as corner at 133 poles and supposed to be a corner to the Adkins Hall tracts, also passing a poplar marked as a corner tree at 227 poles and supposed to be the southwest corner of William Owen's 400 acre tract and in a line of William King's 1000 acre tract, this last line South 83°30' East (for 80°) and 304 poles in length is supposed to be the northern line of William King's 1000 acre survey, containing 495 1/2 acres and 12 poles, be the same more or less, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.

To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto the said Noah Jones, his heirs and assigns forever, and is the same land conveyed to George Jones dec'd in his lifetime by William Adkins, John S Hall, Lamuth Barlee, Samuel Lemon and James Taylor, and a part of the land conveyed to the said Jones by Thomas Russell, and the parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs, executives and administrators the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances unto the said Noah Jones, his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever, doth and will forever warrant and defend by these presents.

In witness whereof the said parties of the first part together with their wives who hereby relinquish their right of dower in and to the lands hereby conveyed, and Elizabeth Jones, widow of the said George Jones dec'd, who also relinquishes her right of dower in and to the said lands, have hereto set their hands and affixed their seals this day and year first above written.
